Foxglove release first track of 2021 with ‘Give It Up’
Manchester-based indie pop band Foxglove have released their latest single ‘Give It Up’.
The euphoric four piece, fronted by lead vocalist Abi White, have been releasing music online since 2019 and formed around two years before that.
Their latest release ‘Give It Up’ carries with it a strong resemblance of US group The Midnight and fellow Manchester band Larkins, with White’s vocals sounding as smooth and effortless as Dido’s.
The track doesn’t really change pace for its duration. The prominent sound of the drums can be heard throughout, keeping a steady rhythm in line with the blissful beat of the background music.
When we reach the chorus, the phrase ‘I’m scared to give it up’ is repeated often, with the majority of the song working around this deep and meaningful line that leaves us questioning its meaning and wanting to know more.
At a time when decent new music releases are few and far between, you won’t be let down with ‘Give It Up’!
It is a refreshing track that creates a rapturous new sound unlike many other bands currently on the rise. The melody is highly original and kickstarts that excited feeling you get when you hear fresh new content.
‘Give It Up’ aired for the first time on BBC Music Introducing in the East Midlands last week, hinting at a promising future for the band.
As well as the release of this new single, the northern quartet have more new music in the pipeline this year, including a live set.
