Alt-indie fourpiece Dead Slow Hoot release gritty post-punk track.
It’s Friday which means new music, and yesterday London / Sheffield based fourpiece Dead Slow unleashed their brand-new track ‘Taller Tree’.
The track is taken from the bands upcoming EP which is set for release later on this year. Dead Slow Hoot have had regular support from BBC Introducing and 6 Music, and its easy to see why listening to their latest release
‘Tall Tree’ is a dark indie track that grows with intensity as it progresses. The track features a simple bassline and gritty Joy Division-esque guitar, as well as some brilliant poetic lyricism.
Lyrically the track looks at politics, which proves that Dead Slow Hoot are more than capable of commenting on the serious societal issues. The band commented on the track:
“Taller Tree is a song about sudden self-awareness, recognising the characteristics in yourself that get used habitually as coping mechanisms but deny the agency or involvement of other people. It’s a reflection on selfishness that I wrote on Christmas eve 2019. Either that or it’s about the general election result and is just a nice way of saying fuck the Tories for four minutes…. (It’s both)”
