Novacain release ‘Wasting Time’, their first track of 2021
Haven’t heard of Novacain yet? Well, then it’s about time now! The 4-piece indie rock band from Portsmouth are back with a fresh new and catchy tune ‘Wasting Time’.
Novacain are four talented guys from Portsmouth who formed only recently in 2020 – united by a common passion for great music. They’ve all been active in the Portsmouth music scene before, but now they decided it’s time for something fresh and new.
The band draws influence from bands like Arctic Monkeys and Kasabian and they use this influence to shape their own style and to turn it into something very energetic, if not electrifying.
Reminiscent of Britpop, their music is dance-rock sound in perfection with a sweet pinch of melancholy. ‘Wasting Time” is an extremely riff-driven, fast-paced psychedelic sound that’s utterly catchy. The song starts with thrilling drums that immediately get you into the groove, the following electric guitar riff does the rest. Gosh, the guitar is just smashing! The interplay of drums and guitar is amazing. Don’t ignore the bass guitar in the background, though. The bass isn’t very dominant, but extremely good. It’s a vivid and rhythmic bass line that adds a subtle dark undertone and defines the depth of the sound. All this spiced up with Dan’s brilliant vocals.
‘Wasting Time’ is proper rock’n’roll that makes you feel the ease of life again. The high energy of the song immediately transfers to the listener. How great it would be to see the band playing it live and dance like there’s no tomorrow. This song isn’t wasting time at all but time well spent. And Novacain are an exciting new band that we hope to hear more from.
