Clara Mann – ‘I Didn’t Know You Were Leaving Today’ | SOTW

Clara Mann’s debut single takes Single of the Week for the last selection of November!

Following a series of lo-fi demo releases, Bristol-based artist Clara Mann launches her debut single ‘I Didn’t Know You Were Leaving Today’. Growing up in a deeply catholic village in the South of France and being classically trained, Clara not only brings an original story to the table, but also offers one of the most unique introductions of the year.

The instrumental is a delicate array of tools you wouldn’t hear elsewhere. Soft, acoustic chords are accompanied by the fiddle and harmonium performing melodies that envelop gently around the guitar. It sounds beautiful and seems to take on the angelic nature that might’ve stemmed from the religious setting of Clara’s upbringing.

Clara’s vocals sound like nothing I’ve heard before, singing lyrics of saying goodbye and how she’s been keeping herself busy in the time since. Her voice sound almost like another set of melodies, hitting a range that further encompasses the overall sombre tone of the song. It’s incredible. ‘I Didn’t Know You Were Leaving Today’ is incredible. I cannot wait to hear more from Clara Mann.
