Tourists tell us what encouraged them to get into music and more!

Where did the band name come from?

We are all Tourists when it comes to music, seeking out and discovering new sounds.

Where is your hometown, and give us a reason/fact why we should visit it?

We’re from Torbay AKA Torbados. If you like angry seagulls and shivering palm trees then come pay us a visit!

What encouraged you to want to get into music?

For me, it was listening to Radiohead for the first time, when I was around 14. That sparked a desire in me to want to learn guitar and start a band. I come from a musical family too, my father used to play accordion in a French restaurant!

Best venue you’ve ever played and why?

My favourite has to be Smithdown Festival in Liverpool, we played in the Palm House, which is basically a giant greenhouse so we were surrounded by massive plants and it was roasting hot!

One band/artist you’d love to support?

We’d love to support Mac Demarco, he gets up to some crazy antics backstage I’m sure, it would just be funny.

What’s the greatest love song ever written?

By Your Side by Sade is one of the best. It’s such a smooth tune and her voice is gorgeous.

The best album that you’ve heard this year?

 Fontaines DC – A Hero’s Death.

Most underrated band/artist of all time?

Wild Beasts, they split up recently but they were amazing. I always felt it was strange they weren’t more well known.

Which three artists/bands should we be looking out for? (Musically, not for Criminal Offences)

Working Men’s Club, Men I Trust & Jaakko Eino Kalevi, the latter is a Norweigen former bus driver, who’s doing some great things with synthesizers at the moment.

What do you want to accomplish next as a band/artist?

We just want people to hear our stuff, that’s what it’s all about for us. Our Album is out this month and so the more people that listen to it the happier we’ll be, it’s as simple as that.

Bonus Question – Favourite vegetable and why!?

The brussel sprout. It gets a bad rep so kinda feel sorry for it.
