Crystal Tides release new track ‘Courtney Love’
Sitting alongside the likes of Royal Blood and Biffy Clyro, you might have heard Crystal Tides’ newest single ‘Courtney Love’ playing on Virgin Radio recently, having secured a slot on the daytime playlist for the past three weeks.
A feat like this doesn’t happen by chance, of course. There’s a reason why the station can’t get enough, and that’s because the track is, quite possibly, the band’s best yet.
Full of their signature bright hooks and energetic riffs, ‘Courtney Love’ is distinctly youthful in its sound and is one about finding power in being young. As lead singer Billy sings how “I’m taking over” and “now that I’m a little bit older, you don’t matter”, the lyrics match the force of the driving rhythm and radiate a strength that can only be attributed to a person or in this case, a band, knowing, and being confident, in who they are.
With massive guitars, sharp drums and a soaring chorus, the song finds its way somewhere between the raucousness of Brit rock and the fun of indie pop – think Catfish and the Bottlemen meets Two Door Cinema Club.
Given that we’re all in need of a little pick me up at the moment, Crystal Tides are the perfect antidote that you just want to hear over and over again.
