The Lathums take Single of the Week with ‘I See Your Ghost’
Wigan’s most exciting young band are back with spookily good new single ‘I See Your Ghost’ taken from their upcoming EP ‘Ghosts’ out at the end of this month.
The Lathums have gained incredible momentum since kicking off in 2019 from playing in pubs to entering the UK Album Chart. Their rapid rise has saw them sell out UK headline tours, as well as secure slots to support artists like Blossoms and Paul Weller next year.
The single sees The Lathums explore a mature, captivating new sound that is slightly different to what we’ve heard so far.
Described by the band on twitter as “dark with happy undertones” the tracks lyrics centre on the existence of ghosts. Sonically ‘I See Your Ghost’ starts out with a bouncing bassline and some quick-paced choppy guitar riffs before featuring Alex Moore’s racing vocals. The ska influenced track is made up of hectic verses and steady drum beats as well as some choral style echoing vocals to add to this new darker, spine tingling sound.
Frontman and songwriter Alex Moore explains “There’s something inside me, maybe like everyone, that ticks to the beats of reggae, ska, grime or hip-hop. A natural, human swing you hear in the music that, even without the tune, still exists. It’s how your heart ticks. ‘I See Your Ghost’ is that feeling for me”.
