Marsicans New Track ‘Your Eyes’ grabs Single of the Week
Describing their sound as ‘upbeat indie meets dirty pop’, Marsicans continue to impress the music crowd with their latest release ‘Your Eyes’.
The quartet from Leeds
The single itself has a much more gritty sound to it than previous releases. The retro riff which runs throughout rings resonance to a vintage theme tune. It’s a perfect example of a band blossoming into their own sound, whilst staying faithful to their unique roots.
Lyrically, the song is very clever. It focuses on the desire to grow wise but not old and the difficult times when people are at different stages of their lives. When talking about the song, bassist and vocalist Rob Brander spoke of the struggle and how ‘judging ourselves by the success of our peers‘ is unavoidable.
The lead vocals, sung by James Newbigging are spot on. Whilst known for their hypnotic harmonies, we hear another layer of vocals in the chorus, singing a completely different vocal line which nicely reflects the confusion of growing up. Marsicans manage to make growing up seem a little less scary with their latest release.
That’s it for Single of the Week this week. If you think you have a single of the week on your hands then make sure you get in touch!

A teen with a major love for all things music. I’m in an unhealthy relationship with my guitar which sometimes leads to me being the one on the stage… oh, and I love a good sing-a-long to anything, but The Wombats and Catfish and the Bottlemen will always have a special place in my heart.
