Bute – ‘Fools/Lovers’ | New Music

Cardiff Band Bute Release Double A-Sided Track ‘Fools/Lovers’

Dydd Gŵyl Dewi Hapus fy ffrindiau! We’ve been given a Welsh treat today, as Cardiff four piece Bute release their new double A-side ‘Fools/Lovers’.

The two tracks differ greatly and explore the breakdown of a relationship. ‘Fools’ follows the style of Bute’s two previous tracks, with infectious riffs and a fuzzing bass line. With harsh lyrics and a hard sound, it rings true to their self-described genre of ‘heavy indie’.

Lovers’ then introduces a whole new take on Bute’s sound. It’s much more of an apologetic love ballad then a brash indie tune. The six and a half minutes song seems to be over too quickly each time I listen to it. As someone who doesn’t really like slow songs as they tend to drag, I was pleasantly surprised with how much I enjoyed ‘Lovers’.

Bute has succeeded in creating a track that’s both vulnerable and emotional, while also interesting and catchy. Plus the intro is pretty damn beautiful. For those of you unfamiliar with Bute, I highly suggest you wrap your ears around their four singles.

The band has massively established themselves in South Wales over the past year. Their first single ‘Can You Hear Me’ features on This Feeling’s Big in 2019 vinyl, alongside other rising names such as Getrz, Red Rum Club and Al Moses.
