With 2019 just kicking off, we had the chance to speak to CHILDCARE, and they’re the first band to take on the 10 questions this year! So how did they do?
Where did your band name come from?
I was a nanny for about five years!
What made you want to get into music?
The big money of course! Well, that and the music teacher was short of trombones at school so asked my parents if I wanted to play and then I sort of fell into it.
Best venue you’ve ever played and why?
I really loved playing Hyde Park Book Club in Leeds recently. It was a small show but the love and positivity from everyone who worked there and attended was really great. On this last tour I feel like I got much a better grasp of the difference that putting care into a venue can make; the whole experience for everyone involved is far superior to a bigger but staler gig.
One band/artist you’d love to support?
What’s the greatest love song ever written?
The best album that you’ve heard in 2018 year?
Probably El Mal Querer by Rosalia.
Most underrated band/artist of all time?
Baby Huey and the Babysitters. That’s a real act.
What was the last song you streamed on Spotify?
Guilt by Mountain Man.
Which three artists/bands should we be looking out for? (Musically, not for Criminal Offences)
Lazy Day, Greatest Hits and The Spanish Sausagers.
What do you want to accomplish next as a band?
Put our debut album out. And it’s looking like that’s gonna happen pretty soon!
Thanks for taking the time out to do this, cannot wait to hear what you have for us in 2019!
