Runaway Hounds Release New Track ‘Nightlight’
Hot on the heels of featuring on BBC Music Introducing, Wolverhampton four-piece Runaway Hounds have released their third single ‘Nightlight’.
They’ve described the track as a foray into the mind of an insomniac. Having not slept for years, my interest was piqued. Could they convey the sheer hell of not being able to switch your brain off?
Upon first listen I had to double check I hadn’t accidentally played a 1975’s offering. On second listen, however, I realised my first impression had been wrong. The song is energetic, despite its subject matter. This can only be due to the exemplary guitar playing throughout.
I found myself quite quickly singing along to the chorus and hoping it was
actually true ‘I’m not tired, I’m not tired no more’. The song is fresh, yet edgy. The lyrics reflective and honest. It’s obvious that this is a band with potential and one that creatively gels.
With twin brother’s Owen (vocals and guitar) and Kent (lead guitar) at the helm, maybe this isn’t surprising. Time has shown that having a sibling as a band member can be both a blessing and a curse however. Will they go all The Kinks or Oasis?
Nightlight is available now to stream and download on all major music platforms.
