October Drift Release New Track ‘Come and Find Me’
‘Come and Find Me’ is the new track from October Drift following their single ‘All Broken Down’ (May 2018), and I’ll say it now, first off- if you haven’t heard of them, now is the time to be drawn into their world of fascinating song-writing, and allow yourself to be completely mesmerised by their captivating sound and energy.
The 4-piece, hailing from Taunton, have already played many shows around the country, have graced the John Peel stage at Glastonbury in 2017, and have recently supported Editors on their European tour earlier this year. Now, their latest release is yet another exciting track to their name; oozing enigmatic shoe-gazey vibes and stamped with their signature style.
‘Come and Find Me’, released via Fierce Panda Records, is an explosive anthem created with the perfect mix of melody and turbulence; complemented by a pure wall of noise. Much like their other releases, October Drift convey a raw sense of emotion through simple, and relatable, but often abstract, lyrics – “I’m the lucky one, I’m a loaded gun, so we do is”
This is layered across an almost ominous guitar riff, creating a haunting and atmospheric start to the track. As their signature distorted, fuzzy guitars come into play, a frantic energy is created. October Drift take the phrase ‘shoe-gaze on steroids’ to a whole new level.
As the tracks gets ‘all broken down’ (no pun intended), Kiran’s brooding vocals construct a wall of evocative tension, only to be destroyed by a rising force of intense adrenaline-fuelled guitars as this song descends into a beautiful chaos of mosh-pit potential. This is another one of their songs I can’t wait to hear live, imagining the catchy chorus begin sung by the awe-struck crowd -“come and find me in the morning if you want, come and find me with my head on back to front”.
Come and find October Drift at their tour this November and December (with your head on back to front), which will be the best way to appreciate the raw talent and energy of a band who, talking from experience, get better every time you see them – they are most definitely going places, so don’t miss out on discovering them in all their glory.
