Today we have funk-rock (with a twist) trio We’re No Heroes all the way from Cardiff taking on the 10 Questions, ever since they started back in 2010 the band have been making some noise and it’s only grown ever since!
First things first how did the band start?
Absolute cosmic chance.
What genre of music would you say you play?
Funk Rock with a frosty twist.
Which bands/artists do you take influences from?
We’ve got our individual preferences but the music that’s always pulled our band together is some of those funk legends. Parliament Funkadelic, Defunkt, Rick James Stone City Band, Ohio Players to name a few.
Best venue you’ve ever played and why?
My personal favourite was Thekla which is this incredible Bristol venue inside the hull of an old steel ship.
Best gig you’ve ever attended?
Black Sabbaths very last show. They played Into The Void, probably the most evil riff of all time.
A band you would most like to support and why?
Chk Chk Chk (!!!) on their up and coming tour around the UK. We asked but haven’t heard anything back yet. Hit us up.
A band that you would like to work with?
We’ve been talking about collaborating with Reuel Elijah from Cardiff (check him out). That would be supreme. He’s a great talent in the local music landscape and a WNH x Reuel song would be something real special.
Top five albums you’ve ever heard?
Led Zeppelin I
Led Zeppelin II
Led Zeppelin III
Led Zeppelin IV
Led Zeppelin Houses Of The Holy
Biggest accomplishment as a band/solo artist?
Playing a session for the BBC in Maida Vale in London was an extremely precious experience. As big cheese as it sounds it was real spiritual feeling. Some of the greatest legends of all time have recorded songs in that room we played in. We even had a string section involved. It was magic.
What’s next in the pipeline?
We’re gonna put out a new music video and single next and hopefully go on the road to play it live to as many ears willing to listen as possible.
Thankyou so much guys for taking on the 10 questions we really appreciate it, wish you all the best for the future!
